Creative Arts Therapist MA CAT (Clinical) Hons, Grad Dip Teaching (Primary), BSocSci (Psych)
I am a clinically registered Creative Arts Therapist offering a compassionate and creative approach to therapy. Using an intermodal approach that can incorporate talk therapy, visual arts, sand play, dance/movement, elements of play therapy, I create a nurturing and safe space to explore life’s challenges. Together, we can work towards therapeutic goals in a collaborative way that supports your unique needs.

Guided by person-centered therapy, I bring genuine care, sensitivity, and a non-judgmental presence to every session. My trauma-informed and playful approach will ensure that you feel encouraged and supported, no matter where you are on your journey.

I feel privileged to support children, youth and adults, as a registered creative arts therapist, individually and in groups, in Hamilton, New Zealand. My professional journey has also included over 15 years as a teacher, working with children and adolescents, including neurodivergent students in specialist schools across Hamilton, Auckland, and London.

I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s complexities in a way that is empowering, affirming, and life-enhancing. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child I am here to walk alongside you with care and creativity.

About Me
Why Creative Arts Therapy?

What is Creative Arts Therapy?
-
A safe and confidential space to explore emotions and work through challenges.
-
Facilitated by a professionally trained and registered Creative Arts Therapist.
-
A confidential alliance that fosters trust, openness, and collaboration.
Who can do this work?
-
Creative Arts Therapists are university trained in psychology, counselling theories and therapeutic techniques.
-
They understand human development, mental health issues and the impact of trauma.
What happens in a session?
-
Clients are invited to express themselves creatively through a modality that resonates (creating art, using clay, sand play and working with symbols, dance/movement, drumming, vocal work), in response to prompts, feelings and themes discussed during the session.
-
Creative methods are tools of therapy used in a supportive way.
-
There is no right or wrong way to make something. You do not have to be ‘good at art’.
-
The focus is on the process of creating and expressing, not the product.
-
Whatever is created is used to help reflection and communication.
